Fascia: It's More Than Just Muscle Tension

In order to give a complete picture of the body and it’s dysfunctions one must have a basic understanding of Fascia. Fascia has many different names. Some people call it Scar Tissue. Some call it Connective Tissue. Some even call it the Living Web or Matrix! The truth is that it is all just Collagen - a simple protein that your body uses to keep everything glued together.

To give you an idea of how pervasive and important Fascia is it helps to imagine what a person would look like if they had everything in their body magically removed leaving only the interlocking and interconnected Fascia in place. They would look exactly the same! It’s true, fascia is the filler in the body, it wraps in through and around every single structure that exists in a human being. Why is this important? Because fascia gets tight too!

DCT practitioners are taught to identify when a person is being restricted by muscle tension or when they are being restricted by fascial tension. Being able to differentiate between the two systems of tension is what sets a DCT practitioner a cut above the rest. Appropriately applying the technique to the correct system of tension is one reason why the results of a DCT session are so striking and more importantly so lasting.
